Why IP is often preferred for new projects
PoE, digital transmission, easier expansion and model choice can make IP systems attractive. But switch quality, CAT6 quality, bandwidth, IP addressing and cybersecurity need proper planning.
Why AHD can still make sense
If a site already has usable coaxial wiring or requires a simple low-cost replacement, a compatible XVR and AHD cameras may reduce re-cabling. Verify resolution, cable condition and power stability.
Do not use storage claims as a fixed rule
IP does not automatically record exactly twice as many days. Modern compression may be efficient, but retention must be calculated using the actual bitrate and settings.
